2013-4-29: Information Station Column

We welcome three new staff people at the Sioux Center Public Library!  Kari Ringelberg, our adult program director; Ronda DeHaan, children’s programming and outreach assistant;  and Melissa Hassman, bilingual services librarian.  They are all here and ready to serve you, so please stop in and say hello.

We are also excited to have our recent graduate, Ruth Mahaffy, back to work as the director of bilingual services.

Summer Reading Program is right around the corner!  We want you to be ready!  We will be out visiting Kinsey and Sioux Center Christian School classrooms in the next few weeks and local first graders are coming here for their yearly visit to the library.  Excitement is building as we near June, and we want to share our summer reading plans with you!  This year we have added something new.   We are recruiting volunteers to help us manage the busy schedule of our summer reading program – SO, if you know of someone who has completed 5th grade and up  – send them in to sign up!  They can help 2 hours a day or 2 hours a week with various programming needs.  Stop in at the circulation desk or have them talk to Judy!

We have BIG things on our agenda too – like DAN WARDELL coming back!  We are so honored to be chosen to have him and really want to have lots of kids here to greet him!  We have Lisa Laird’s Pockets Full of Fun, Blank Park Zoo, Rick Eugene’s Balloon Sculptures, Sunday Ford, and Science Center of Iowa all on the calendar.  Watch announcements for a grand gala family literacy event later this summer!  AND keep your eyes open for Star Reader yard signs appearing soon in yards near you….
