Vacation Plans?

If you have vacation plans, then you need to visit your library first!  For those long car trips, we have books on CD – for both adults and children – and even some that overlap for the whole family!  This is a great way to spend the car time AND show your kids that you think reading is valuable.  If you own a table or smart phone, then before you leave – load up on ebooks and audiobooks.  Just so you know your options –  3M has ebooks; Wilbor has ebooks and audiobooks, and One Click Digital has both ebooks and audiobooks.  All of these services are free and require only an app to get them downloaded to your device.  Maybe you want to take along digital magazines?  Then try our Zinio service.  OR, if you are looking to download music, then try out Freegal, our free music download service.

What if you are staying around here and want to stay on top of things this summer?  Then we have some upcoming programming that you might enjoy –

Tuesday, July 15 at 7 pm, we are proud to host Dan Kaercher at the library.  Dan is the retired founding editor-in-chief of Midwest Living Magazine and an Iowa Public Television host.  He is coming to share some close-to-home attractions and getaways that you may not be familiar with.  We are excited to have him!  Come and bring a friend!

If you are a teen and want to expand your horizons – stop by on Friday afternoons from 2-3 pm – July 11 is our Lego Challenge – just show up and be prepared to create.  July 18 is our Cupcake Wars program – stay tuned for more details on this one – but you WON’T want to miss it!

If you are wanting to keep your child busy then I have some great ideas for you as well!  We have our Sioux County Naturalist Assistant coming on Wednesday, July 2 at 10:30 am for Preschool to Kindergarteners and again at 1:30 for 1st grade and up.  Here is a great time to learn more about our world around us with a very knowledgeable source!

We will have a DRIVE-IN Movie on Wednesday, July 9 at 6:30 pm – just bring your own decorated cardboard “car” and join us for a fun, family movie!

Dan Wardell returns on Thursday, July 10 at 9:30 am and 10:30 am – pick a time, bring a friend and let’s fill the library as our IPTV celebrity returns to Sioux Center!

We are bringing the Zoo to YOU on Thursday, July 17 at 10:30 am!  The Great Plains Zoo is coming to bring a terrific program to our younger crowd!  All are welcome!

So whether you are getting ready to travel or staying close by – We will plan to see YOU at the library this summer!
