Dig Into Reading to meet these goals for earning prizes and entering the Summer Reading prize drawings!

    Family Program

      • Color in a space on your activity log for each activity completed (activities do not have to be completed in order).
      • For every 4 activities completed, your child may spin the prize wheel and receive whatever prize is on the space when the wheel stops. The Summer Reading Program officially ends Saturday, July 20, 2013. The prize wheel will be available for one week after the completion of the Summer Reading Program.
      • Family Program Drawings: The child can also put his/her name in a drawing that will take place sometime in the week after the Summer Reading Program completes.

    TK-4th Grade Program

      • Color in a space on your reading log for every 15 minutes your child reads or is read to as you dig into reading with the mole.Moles Reading
      • For every 10 spaces filled on the reading log, your child may spin the prize wheel and receive whatever prize is on that the prize space when the wheel stops. After they have completed two sheets, they will have completed the prize wheel program. The wheel will be available for one week after the completion of the Summer Reading Program. When a log is completed and returned, your child can receive another log. When the first sheet is completed (20 spaces), your child may take a yard sign home to display with pride. Remember to bring it back at the end of the summer.
      • TK-4th Drawings: For every sheet completed (20 spaces), the reader can place an entry in drawings for larger prizes. They may continue to enter drawings for as many sheets as they can complete. The drawings will take place within a week after Summer Reading Program is completed.
      • TK-4th Bookclubs: Your child can sign up for one of two book clubs: 1) 1st-2nd grade book club to be held in June and 2) 3rd-4th grade book club to be held in July. Since we are purchasing books for the club participants, we require a $5.00 fee for each book club attendee. Once your child completes summer book club, the $5 fee will be refunded, and he/she may keep the book as a gift. We are limiting the book clubs to 30 children each.

Barnes & Noble Summer Reading challenge:

    • Read any 8 books and record them on the Barnes & Noble reading journal that can be printed here.
    • Step 2 on the Reading Journal says to bring your completed journal to a Barnes & Noble store, but they are coming here to our library to hand out your prize books! Watch the Events list and announcements to find out when they'll be here.
    • The reading journal lists all of the prize books that you can choose from, so start thinking about which one you'd like to earn!

Beneath the Surface - YA Program

      • Pick up a reading log at the library.
      • For every 15 minutes you read, mark off a box on the sheet. After every 10 boxes, you may come spin the prize wheel and get a small prize.
      • At the end of the prize sheet you will also get an entry in a drawing for a larger prize.
      • When you complete 2 full sheets, you have completed the program. However, for every full sheet after the first two, you can still read and get your name put in for the drawings 2 times per sheet.

    Groundbreaking Reads - Adult ProgramStar

      • Program details and important dates - printable PDF handout
      • Pick up a reading log at the circulation desk – everyone will receive a log in one of three colors.
      • For every 15 minutes that you read, fill in one box. When you’ve filled in all the boxes for a given week, fill in the larger box to show that you’ve met your reading goal for the week. Bring this bookmark in to the library each week to get it stamped. When you do, you will receive an entry form into the drawings that will be held at the end of the program.
      • For each week that you meet the reading goal, you will get an additional entry into the drawing. Your minutes will also be recorded for your color team by the Library staff.  Keep checking each week to see how your team is doing!
      • If, on a given week, you meet your reading goal, you may continue to fill in boxes in the week below and thereby 'get ahead' for the coming week. Happy reading! Ask staff with any questions.
      • Prizes:  Grand Prize - Kindle HD; Other prizes: 4 movie-themed gift baskets; prizes for the members of the winning color team; and a prize for each person in the adult program, just for participating!
